Who we are and what we do
The Montreal, Shira Choir is an inclusive group of singers, living with disabilities, dedicated to celebrating the power of music, to bring joy, to inspire and unite people of all ages and abilities. People with disabilities are often marginalized in society, without opportunities, to express their talents, passions in life, and realize their full potential. Our choir membership offers an environment, in which individuals with disabilities can discover their love of music. The choir also serves as a vehicle for vulnerable individuals to transform their feelings of isolation and low self-esteem to expressing a sense of belonging, purpose, and accomplishment, while at the same time promoting social inclusion.
Disabled individuals are often on the receiving end of the charity, yet have few opportunities to experience themselves the tremendous benefits of giving to others. The opportunity for this population to mentor others, to help others, acquire the skills and confidence to participate in the performing arts, and to bring joy to others, is a unique contribution to society that sends a powerful message. Our choir with a big heart continues share their joy of performing in many North American cities and continue to inspire thousands live and via social media.

With dedication and heart, they perform at schools, senior centers, and hospitals, uplifting the community with their voices. More than just a choir, they participate in programs like voice therapy, art therapy, and mentoring, fostering personal growth and connection.
